Domestic Abuse Treatment Group Anger Management Group Sex Offenders Treatment Group |
Domestic Abuse Treatment Group: This is an open group that will meet weekly 1 ˝ hours. A screening and orientation process must be completed prior to admission. The goals of the program include ending domestic violence, assuring the safety of the partners, and teaching consumers alternatives to coercive and violent behaviors. The program will help participants take responsibility for their behaviors and learn social skills that foster positive, collaborative relationships with a full exploration of the impact of violence and abusive behaviors on partners, children, and family. Participants will identify and practice non-abusive behaviors to reach a non-violent lifestyle. This group is based on cognitive behavioral interventions. Anger Management Group: This is an open group that will meet weekly 1 ˝ hours. The goals of this program include development of insight and motivation to stop violence and abuse, identify and restructure beliefs that foster anger and violent behaviors, develop coping skills to manage stress and negative emotions and improve interpersonal and social attitude through learning and use of empathy, problem solving, negotiation, and assertiveness skills. This group has an open enrollment for up to 10 members. Sex Offenders Treatment Group: This group will meet weekly for 1.5 hours and admission is ongoing. Admission is contingent upon submission of past records and completion of a sexual offending risk assessment. Members of the group are required to complete standard treatment assignments. Coordination among courts, corrections, and providers will be emphasized. This treatment is modeled after that of Dr. William Marshall, whom with co-author Dr. Yolanda Fernandez published “Cognitive Behavioral Treatment of Sex Offenders”, which has demonstrated significant lower recidivism. Dr. William Marshall is an internationally respected researcher and developer of empirically validated treatment programs for sex offenders. |
